法王はチベット的慈悲への執着の例として、良く知る一人の僧侶の話をされた。
「この僧侶は中国の監獄に18年間捕えられ、1980年にインドに亡命した。
すでに90歳を越えている。
彼とは時々話しをするがある時、「監獄にいたとき一度大変に危険な目に遭った」と彼が言った。
私はてっきり彼が殺されそうになったのかと思った。
しかし彼は「中国人に対して慈悲の心を失いそうになったことがある」と言ったのだった。
